In today’s modern world, people are gradually being forced to spend greater periods of time sitting down and over recent years there has also been a dramatic increase in the frequency and volume of back pain. Restricted physical movement, poor posture, stress, non-ergonomic furniture and an unhealthy lifestyle have all been cited as important factors contributing to back pain.

It has therefore become increasingly important for employers and their personnel to assess the job function they are undertaking. The longer a person spends seated at their place of work, then the greater their need for a chair that will adapt to their own individual requirements.

Posture is maintained by the subtle balance of pairs of muscle groups throughout the body, working in harmony to retain any desired stance. However any posture, good or bad, which is sustained for prolonged periods will lead to static muscle loads and the risk of long term injury.

A dynamic posture is beneficial because the muscles have the opportunity to alternate between action and relaxation, thereby improving the blood supply.

The Latest ergonomics standards now formally recognise that Movement and Fluidity of
posture change is the key to long term comfort and health in the office

As chairs have become more adjustable they have also become more complicated to adjust correctly. As the normal commercial pressures of time and productivity impact on each individual, there is an increased risk that the user is unlikely to adjust the chair to their particular requirements. Without correctly adjusting the chair before use, they will be using a chair that has specifically adjusted to someone else and which may therefore be doing them active harm.

The ultimate in office seating therefore would be a chair that not only encourages movement, but which also follows and supports the body naturally in every posture, without intervention by the user.

v.smart provides a modern, stylish range of dynamic seating which adjusts itself automatically to each and every individual. Optimum active support, balance and long term comfort are provided to every user, in every posture, every time.

Even tiny movements, known as micro movements have been shown to have a significant beneficial effect on circulation and a subsequent reduction in posture fatigue.

v.smart actively encourages movement through its design and structure, avoiding any
single predetermined static ergonomic posture.

Instead of relying on levers and knobs for the user to adjust the chair, v.smart uses automatic, intuitive adjustment in order to obtain maximum benefit. v.smart automatically senses the weight of each user as they sit on the chair and instinctively provides the correct tension to work in harmony with each individual, resulting in reduced strain and fatigue and providing greater efficiency for the user.

It then establishes the height and depth of lumbar support required and ensures the flexible back fits naturally into the curve of the spine.

v.smart provides the optimum active support in any position, and as the user’s posture changes, the chair automatically readjusts to ensure that the support is maintained at all times. The only adjustment the user is required to make is that of the seat height, which is performed simply by the use of a touch button on the side of the chair.

Simple automatic operation, without complicated knobs and levers, results in v.smart always being ideally adjusted to each user at all times.

Seats the posture seats provide superior support and the option of two sizes enable different physiques to be accommodated. A distinct waterfall front edge profile reduces the pressure under the thighs.

Finishes three finish options of Black, Silver (RAL9006) and Polished Aluminium enable v.smart to enhance any office or working environment.

Base the distinctive five star base beautifully complements the fluidity of the v.smart design concept and provides superb stability in use. Back the v.smart back utilises existing technology from the Aerospace Industry in order to provide a truly responsive back, able to adjust automatically to the natural spinal motion and varied lumbar support requirements placed on it.

Mechanism the intelligent underseat mechanism utilises simple technology to provide a balanced posture which follows and supports the body’s natural movements. It features instinctive tension control, which automatically adjusts the tension of the chair according to the user’s body weight.

Arms the option of stylish slim line, fixed or adjustable arms may offer additional support to the neck and shoulder muscular systems and can alleviate some of the symptoms of repetitive strain disorders. Visitor cantilever framed visitors chairs together with conference swivel chairs are available with or without arms.
